Disability Specialist
LSU Health Sciences Center, Human Development Center is hiring a part-time Disability
Specialist to provide training and technical assistance that supports effective inclusion of
children in early childhood settings. In addition, the Disability Specialist is responsible for
monitoring, overseeing and assuring developmental screening and referral is completed timely
and accurately. The Disability Specialist must maintain confidentiality of health records, monitor
and analyze service data in the management information system, ensure that disability services
are provided, and provide consultation to staff and families.
Bachelor’s degree in, Early Intervention or Early Childhood Special Education or related field.
Additionally, applicants must have at least 2 years of experience in early intervention or early
childhood special education. Successful applicants will possess knowledge of family-centered
practices, supporting the physical and social emotional development of young children including
those with complex health needs, and will demonstrate apptitudes for participation in team
development, implementation and evaluation of professional development activities. Master’s
degree preferred.
