Position Overview

The Department of Accounting and Finance of the Girard School of Business is hiring for a full- time (NTT) faculty position as Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice in Finance beginning Fall 2023. Qualified candidates should have relevant professional experience and be willing to serve as a faculty advisor to student financial clubs, as well as experience in teaching and curriculum development at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. This role is best suited for a candidate that has relevant professional experience, as well as a track record of collaborative teaching and mentoring students to be future financial professionals.

Requirements:
  • The teaching load is normally four courses per semester that will include a combination of undergraduate and graduate-level courses that includes in-person, hybrid and online modalities. The candidate may also assist with academic advising and select service to the department, school, and college.
  • Specific courses will depend on the candidate's previous experience, expertise, and the school's needs. Based on our current requirements, the ideal candidate would have experience in teaching one or more of the following:
Undergraduate courses:Managerial Finance, Corporate Finance, Investments Analysis,Portfolio Analysis, Applied Corporate Finance, Financial Institution, Derivatives, Financial Modeling, Fixed Income Analysis, Crypto and Fintech, Valuation, Algorithm Trading, Data Analytics, Financial Planning.

Graduate courses:Trends and Innovation (Blockchain and Fintech), Quant and Factor Investing, Corporate Finance and Valuation, Alternative Investments & Derivatives, Fixed Income Securities.
  • In addition, the candidate shall develop curriculum at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and serve as faculty advisor to a student club.
Qualifications:

Interested applicants should have relevant professional experience, as well as teaching experience, and either hold a Ph.D. in Finance or a relevant Master's degree with substantive professional experience; a CFA is preferred. Preferences will be given to candidates who are specialized in areas such as fixed income analysis, financial modeling, derivatives, or fintech. Strong verbal/written communication skills are essential. Additionally, the ability to foster an environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion is expected of all Merrimack community members.

About the Girard School of Business

The Girard School of Business takes a unique approach to business education including a strong foundation in the liberal arts and Augustinian values. Our faculty are committed to providing students with a strong foundation of business knowledge and skills in an environment having a high degree of student-faculty interaction. It has approximately 1,400 undergraduate and graduate students and offers a BSBA degree with ten concentrations, MS degrees in Management and Accounting, as well as an online MS degree in Business Analytics.

This is an on-campus position as employees are essential in order to provide a fully on-campus, residential college experience for our students and the community.
