Job Summary/Basic Function
Reporting to the Director of Development the Director - Development Initiatives will engage new prospects for campus-wide initiatives and provide targeted support for assignments such as the leadership annual giving, planned gifts, major gifts, special projects, and donor stewardship. As assigned, the incumbent will also partner with annual giving staff and Directors - College Development (college-specific development officers). The incumbent will make discovery visits seeking leadership annual gifts and determining individuals' interest in MTSU. The incumbent will have an extensive schedule of personal visits related to leadership annual giving with individuals in order to build and manage a personal portfolio of 50 - 80 prospects In support of the overall fundraising efforts of the University, develop strategic fundraising goals and plans to elevate overall university fundraising to a new level of achievement. Work with the Director Development to establish annual fundraising goals as part of his/her performance review plan; assist college specific Directors - College Development as assigned; provide dedicated fundraising support for assigned areas including back up support to Directors - College Development as appropriate and perform other related tasks and special projects as assigned.
Required Education
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
Required Related Experience
Three (3) years progressively responsible and successful fundraising or reasonable related experience. Preference given to candidates with fundraising or related experience in higher education.
Required License/Registration/Certification
Valid Driver's license
Desirable Related Experience
Four years progressively responsible Higher education fundraising experience preferred.
