Assistant Professor, Speech-Language Pathology (Two Open Positions)

Position Summary:
The Department of Speech-Language Pathology seeks two dedicated speech-language-hearing-swallowing scholars to join an energetic, dynamic, and nurturing team dedicated to ensuring students' competent, compassionate, and creative clinical practice. Our growing programs (M.S.Ed. in Speech-Language Pathology degree program and the undergraduate minor in Communication Sciences and Disorders) have two openings for full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professors.

Each position includes a 10-month contract, with an 18-credit teaching load per academic year (3/3 load) and the option to teach additional summer courses when available. Teaching will include largely classroom-based instruction with opportunities to build in simulations and laboratory activities. Graduate instruction is in-person and onsite. Successful candidates can adequately document expertise or significant potential for quickly developing expertise in their area(s) of teaching showcasing a commitment to ongoing disciplinary currency, solid scholarship according to the Boyer Model with some data-based research disseminated at the national level, excellent interpersonal communication skills, and a commitment to collegiality and professionalism that will significantly contribute to the mission, values, and vision of the Speech-Language Pathology Department, the School of Education, and the university.

New graduates of Ph.D. or Ed.D. programs are not required to have higher education experience, although demonstrated potential in scholarship, teaching, and service is required. The two years of related experience requirement may be met through evidence of sustained clinical practice prior to earning the Ph.D. or Ed.D.
The anticipated start date for both positions is the Fall semester of 2024.

This is an in-person on campus, non-remote position.

Required Degree, License or Certifications:
Doctoral degree, ABD candidates may be considered with degree completion expected by date of employment

Other Requirements:

An earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in communication sciences and disorders or relevant related fields. ABD candidates will be considered with evidence that completion of the Ph.D. or Ed.D will occur before the position start date.
New Jersey license to practice speech-language pathology or be eligible for the license.
Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
At least two (2) years of clinical experience with the CCC-SLP (Clinical Fellowship does not count toward the two-year requirement).
Demonstrated record of or demonstrated potential for scholarly engagement.
Demonstrated record of or demonstrated potential for effective teaching at the graduate level.
Demonstrated record of or demonstrated potential for work in a diverse environment with a diverse student and client population.
Demonstrated or potential for demonstration of commitment to in-person, onsite academic/clinical instruction and collaboration with department colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated scholarly and teaching interest in SLP practice in educational settings including, but not limited to literacy, AAC, or child speech/language disorders in early childhood or school-aged children.
Demonstrated scholarly and teaching interest in SLP practice in medical settings including, but not limited to dysphagia (adult or pediatric), motor speech, or cognitive-communication disorders in adults (although pediatric medical interests are also preferable).
