Job Summary:
The Assistant Director reports to the Director, Employer Relations in the Career Management Center. This position is responsible for establishing and cultivating relationships with employers seeking to hire MBA talent at Kellogg. The Assistant Director/Business Development partners with the Assistant Directors/Industry Relationship Managers, Career Coaches and other CMC staff to provide access and insights between employers and students. S/he develops data-driven strategies and outreach plans to identify high potential employers who do not yet have well developed MBA talent pipelines or do not currently recruit at Kellogg. S/he works to understand and navigate employer and market trends. Recruiter and student contact at multiple levels is integral to the success of this role. The successful applicant has superior project management, written/verbal communication and organizational skills. The Assistant Director coordinates with professional clubs, the Kellogg Student Association, and other internal/external constituents on outreach and promoting the Kellogg brand while sharing development information.
Specific Responsibilities:
Employer Relations
- Initiate, cultivate, develop and track new recruiting relationships with employers interested in hiring Kellogg MBAs with a focus on those with growth potential and need for MBAs.
- Assess existing relationships and work with employers to determine optimal recruiting strategies. Facilitate employers' participation in Kellogg-specific recruiting events, including Kellogg Networking Nights (KNN) and other events designed to facilitate interactions between employers and Kellogg students.
- Manage the Kellogg Job Board and CMC Salesforce platform to ensure flow of information and carefully track opportunities.
- Actively manage portfolio across several industries, seeking new opportunities with employers to match student interest.
- Meet regularly with professional club leaders to review student interest trends and coordinate outreach strategies.
- Communicate with Kellogg students to share employer updates and market trends.
- Provide student training for diversity conferences in conjunction with Coaches. Attend select diversity conferences to develop employer relationships and serve as student liaison.
- Attend select student treks.
- Provide market updates and disseminate employer feedback to CMC staff including IRMs and Coaches.
- Serve as liaison to key internal constituents, including External Relations, Corporate Partnerships, Alumni Relations and select academic centers.
- Manage special projects such as Kellogg networking nights, Recruiter Days and job fairs as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 5+ years of experience required, with experience in client/customer relations, business development, or other related areas strongly preferred.
- Must have strong experience with MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of business industries and functions required.
- Must have demonstrated high level of professionalism, follow-through, teamwork, flexibility and sense of humor.
- MBA or other graduate degree highly desirable.
- Experience with event planning a plus.
- Experience with Salesforce and other databases.
- Experience with MBA Focus products a plus.
