Job Description
To maintain all boilers, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration system and all associated equipment, to its maximum capability at journeyman level. To operate energy management control system in an efficient manner.

Knowledge, skills and abilities
Extensive working knowledge of boilers, heating, ventilating and air conditioning operations. Must be able to repair and perform maintenance on institutional type equipment. Demonstrated ability to read and understand blueprints. Demonstrated ability to solve problems with chillers, boilers, heating, air conditioning and ventilation equipment. Working knowledge of Simens DDC Systems.
Special licenses, registration or certification
Valid Virginia Driver's license and insurable driving record. Virginia Journeyman mechanical license. Successful completion of a refrigerant transition and recovery course and tests. Certified for Type Universal.
Education or training
None
Level and type of experience
Extensive heating, ventilating, air conditioning, chiller, boiler equipment repair and maintenance experience. Considerable experience installing and performing maintenance and repair on commercial type HVAC equipment at different sites. Some heating, air conditioning and boiler trade school and/or working experience.
Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification
Virginia Master Mechanical license and considerable experience installing and performing maintenance and repair on commercial type HVAC equipment. Heating, air conditioning and/ or boiler trade school. Extensive heating, ventilating and air conditioning, chiller, boiler equipment repair and maintenance. Some supervisor experience.
Conditions of Employment
Facilities Management employees are considered essential personnel and subject to working during University closings.
The holder of this position is also subject to serving on a schedule to be called back to work during non-work hours. In such an event, this position is required to respond to after-hours calls.
Working hours are Monday through Friday 7:00AM to 3:30PM.
