Postdoctoral Scholar - Radiology Department

Postdoctoral Scholar in Human brain Imaging

The Center for NMR Research (CNMRR) in the Department of Radiology at Penn State College of Medicine invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar to join our neuroimaging and fMRI image analysis team. They will participate in research projects related to MRI and fMRI studies of memory, aging and neurodegenerative diseases [Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's disease (PD)], funded by the National Institute of Health.

  • The goal of this projects is to establish links between olfactory deficits with memory impairment and AD neurodegeneration. This research involves the development of MRI techniques, olfactory functional MRI (fMRI) and other fMRI applications.
  • Requirements: A PhD and/or MD degree, preferably with a focus on cognitive neuroscience, physics, computer science, applied mathematics or bioengineering.
  • Desirable skills/experience: Quantitative image analysis, some experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning, and hands-on experience in human neuroimaging and data analysis techniques such as MRI, fMRI, PET and EEG. Candidates with diverse experience and interests seeking to establish a career in neuroimaging are encouraged to apply.
  • Tasks and expectations: Participate in the investigation of the neural basis of olfactory deficits in Alzheimer's disease.
  • Research environment and career development: The Facility for Nuclear Magnetic Resonance at Penn State (NMR) has a world leading research team with diverse expertise in the studies of human sensory perceptions (olfaction, trigeminal, visual, etc.) and their clinical applications. Candidates will have the opportunity to collaborate with top neuroscientists and neurological disorder specialists at Penn State's College of Medicine and University Park campuses and given an opportunity to develop their own related research.
