Required Education

Ph.D. in cell/molecular biology, bioengineering, or related field.

Required Related Experience
  • Experience with cell culture, including cell lines and primary cells.
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques, including WB.
  • Experience using fluorescence microscope.
  • Experience with tumor organoid and slices culture.
  • Excellent organization and communications skills are a must.

Physical Requirements

May require long periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, use of manual dexterity, extending of arms, climbing stairs, reaching, twisting of upper body, talking, listening, reading and viewing. Occasionally requires stretching and lifting and moving up to 30 lbs.

Shift

8am-5pm with occasional evenings and weekends dependent upon the requirements of the experiments running.

Job Summary

The Spectroscopic Imaging Laboratory in the F. Joseph Halcomb III, M.D. Department of

Biomedical Engineering and Markey Cancer Center at the University of Kentucky has an opening for a postdoctoral scholar research position. The prospective candidate will be expected to contribute to our cancer biology program at Markey Cancer Center in which he/she will have opportunities to pursue conduct preclinical and translational cancer research with a focus of cancer metabolism, and mentor graduate students. This position will also provide a unique opportunity to gain experience in a multidisciplinary research environment. The initial appointment will be for a 12-month period, with possibility of extension based on performance and the availability of funding.

  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Detail oriented, ability to work in a team environment, analytical skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of common scientific equipment.
  • Knowledge of cancer cell culture, tumor organoid culture.
  • Knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques.
