Physical Requirements

The physical requirements of this position will include occasionally lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects up to 25lbs; occasionally standing or walking with objects up to 10lbs; regularly working at a computer workstation for extended periods of time with repetitive motions (such as typing); and intermittent (10%) job-related travel.

Shift

Monday-Friday; 8:00 am-5:00 pm; and may include some evenings, nights, and weekends per departmental needs.

Job Summary

The Training Specialist Senior supports Human Resources Training & Development – Professional Development unit. The person in this position will help strengthen job performance of university employees by facilitating both virtual and in-person training workshops on professional development topics such as leadership, communication, creative problem-solving, interpersonal skills, and teamwork. They will collaborate with training colleagues to keep training materials up to date, develop new training content, and create training schedules. Additionally, this person will consult with managers and departments at the university on potential professional development training needs for their areas, including performance-related problems, and recommend solutions. They will fulfill other assigned responsibilities, such as hosting/producing virtual training for colleagues, maintenance of the virtual training room, and promotion of HR Training & Development workshops.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

The ideal candidate will have previous experience developing and facilitating virtual and in-person training workshops for adult learners on professional development topics (e.g. communication, leadership, interpersonal skills, teamwork); proficient in Microsoft Office; excellent attention to detail; strong communication and presentation skills; exceptional planning and organizational skills; effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to solve routine problems and manage resources; demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service, time management, and judgment; and respect for confidentiality and diversity.

Preferred Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree + previous experience developing and facilitating training workshops for adult learners, writing course curriculum, and providing management consultation.
