BSW/MSW Field Coordinator
The University of Michigan-Flint Department of Social Work is seeking a Field Education Coordinator at the rank of Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor for the BSW program and a new MSW program which is currently under development. This individual will serve as the founding Field Education Coordinator of the MSW program that will be operational, pending CSWE approval, in fall 2024. This is a full time clinical faculty position with 75% administrative and 25% instructional duties. The desired start date is summer 2023. We are seeking applicants with a breadth of social work practice experience. The Coordinator will provide oversight of field supervision, placements, related curriculum, and accreditation related initiatives for BSW and MSW programs at UM-Flint. As a clinical faculty leader, the Coordinator is also expected to demonstrate exemplary teaching while promoting social justice, diversity and inclusion throughout the social work curriculum and field experiences. The primary responsibilities include:

Identify and develop strong field internship placements

Facilitate and monitor educational placements to ensure educational quality

Design and deliver orientation and training to students, field instructors, and field liaisons

Maintain partnership agreements with field agencies and associated documentation

Facilitate integration of field education with other components of the social work curriculum

Teach seminar or practice courses

Update field practicum policies and procedures

Work closely with the BSW Program Director and MSW Program Director to support students' success and address student challenges

Advise students on issues related to field instruction and career opportunities

Represent the program on appropriate committees

Develop and support partnerships with community based organizations in support of the BSW and MSW programs

Earned MSW from a CSWE accredited program

Minimum of 2 years post-MSW professional Social Work experience
-
Minimum of 2 years of BSW or MSW field director experience at a CSWE accredited institution

Experience teaching in a higher education context using a variety of modalities (online, hybrid, face-to-face)
-
Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Experience with CSWE accreditation process

Exceptional problem-resolution, time management, interpersonal and community relations skills
-
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Desired Qualifications:

Ph.D. in social work or related field
-
5 years post-MSW professional Social Work experience
-
Experience with developing community based partnerships in support of Social Work students and interns
-
Experience with aspects of the field placement process, including, but not limited to, supporting students, working with supervisors and agencies, managing application process, and developing remediation plans
