Location: Philadelphia, PA
Open Date: Sep 01, 2023
Deadline:

The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering seeks outstanding applicants for tenure-track or tenured positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor levels. Penn provides tremendous opportunities for research both within and across academic units and schools, including the School of Arts and Science, and the School of Medicine. The close proximity of all of Penn's schools and research centers enables seamless collaboration.

Individuals with exceptional promise for, or a proven record of research achievement who will excel in teaching undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply.

We welcome applicants from all areas of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. This includes Biomolecular Engineering and Biomaterials with applications in human health, as well as Data Science, and Machine Learning. Additional areas of interest are described in the School's strategic plan (https://www.seas.upenn.edu/about/strategic-plan).

Penn Engineering strongly supports dual career couples, and we welcome and encourage inquiries about dual career assistance (for academic and non-academic opportunities) at an early stage of the recruitment process.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related field.

At the Assistant Professor level, individuals should demonstrate excellent academic credentials and promise for impact in research in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. At the Associate and Full Professor ranks, a strong demonstrated track record of research excellence including successful competitive research funding and academic standing is expected.

A commitment to teaching should also be apparent including development of undergraduate and graduate courses, supervision of doctoral students, and academic advising of students at all levels.

We seek individuals who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. Our faculty participate in departmental and school-level efforts to promote diversity, equity and inclusion, and to work closely with students to identify and address diversity challenges. We request a discussion of candidates’ experiences in establishing and maintaining supportive, inclusive environments for diverse student communities, and what plans they have for being involved in diversity efforts at Penn.

Application Instructions
Interested candidates should submit a Curriculum Vitae, detailed research and teaching plans, a statement on diversity, and the names and contact information of at least three references via Interfolio. Candidates from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
