Description
The Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for a full-time non-tenure-track lecturer position starting August 1, 2023. The position's primary responsibility will be teaching general education asynchronous online introductory physics courses with online laboratories. This non-tenure-track position is renewable yearly, contingent upon evidence of excellent teaching, demand for instruction, and availability of funds, and comes with full benefits.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Master's or Ph.D. (preferred) degree in Physics or a related field awarded no later than August 1, 2023. The successful candidate will have experience teaching introductory physics courses at the undergraduate level. The candidate should be able to develop asynchronous online lectures and homework assignments, help with the development of online laboratories, and provide timely feedback to students. The candidate should also be able to work collaboratively with other faculty members in the department and with the GTA laboratory instructors. The ideal candidate will have experience with online teaching platforms such as Blackboard or Canvas. The candidate should also have excellent communication skills and be able to engage students in online discussions.
