Description
The Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Biomedical Engineering (MABE) at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applicants for a non-tenure-track position at the rank of research assistant professor in mechanical engineering. This position will lead Automotive engineering and related student competition activities in the Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering department. Responsibilities include teaching Capstone Design courses for the ME students participating in the competitions. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supervising the vehicle integration activities. Experience in automobile powertrain systems development and integration, especially in hybrid/electric vehicles, is required. Conducting research in automotive engineering, and developing externally funded research programs is expected. The candidate will also be expected to develop graduate courses in her/his area of research to complement the departmental growth. A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, as well as a minimum of five years of experience in vehicle (preferably hybrid or electric vehicle) development, is required.
