Job Summary
Collects fees or payments from customers purchasing goods or services. Prepares appropriate documentation to record transactions.
Responsibilities
1. Collects money and returns change to customers.
2. Counts money collected during shift, balances it with tickets or items sold, and submits to supervisor for review.
3. Provides directions and answers general questions about parking permits and policies, merchandise, theater productions, etc.
4. Opens and closes facilities at beginning and end of shifts.
5. Cleans work area by sweeping floors, wiping off machines and counters.
6. May assist at special events.
7. May perform clerical tasks such as answering phones, responding to mail, or filing.
Within the framework of University policy, the Cashier has the authority to carry out transactions related to the collection of payment for fees, fines, tickets, and purchases, and to give directions and respond to general questions. The Cashier is responsible for handling and safekeeping of cash during the shift. Requests for exceptions to policy are referred to the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
Six months cashiering experience, basic mathematical skills, and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Word processing and spreadsheet skills may be preferred for certain positions.
