Position Primary Purpose and General Duties:
VCU Libraries invites applications for the position of Financial Technician to join its Libraries Fiscal Operations (LFO) team. The LFO is responsible for the financial and administrative activities related to the VCU Libraries personnel and operating budget. Recent graduates of relevant degree programs or entry-level fiscal professionals are encouraged to apply. This position will provide exposure to business and financial practices of a large university.
The Fiscal Technician will provide procurement and finance-related operational support by performing the following:
· Submit purchase orders through VCU Real Source and create P-card purchases.
· Review all open orders and pending payments to identify and resolve potential problems in a proactive and timely manner.
· Develop an understanding of procurement policy and compliance requirements.
· Review cash receipts and key deposits in Banner finance system.
· Manage the Libraries' electronic internal requisition approval system.
· Assist in monthly financial reconciliations.
· Provide finance related customer service and maintain external vendor relations.
· Manage a low volume of accounts payable activity
· Contribute to Fiscal Operation team efforts in other adjacent activities, as needed.
Minimum Hiring Standards:
· High school diploma or GED and 0 to 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
· Demonstrated experience in working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
· Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines, multi-task and determine priorities
· Excellent communication skills.
· Excellent customer service.
Preferred Hiring Standards:
· Bachelor's degree in related field
· Knowledge of state and university financial operations, policies, procedures and systems
· Proficiency in the daily use of Microsoft Excel, Google suite and Zoom.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently, and prioritize multiple complex tasks. Experience with state/university or higher education setting
· Direct experience using financial recordkeeping and/or procurement software systems such as Banner Finance
· Experience assembling financial data from a variety sources and systems to build and maintain financial reports
Salary Range: $38,00-$43,000
