The Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation and The C. Kenneth and Dianne Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research invite all interested candidates to apply for an exciting opportunity as a full-time MRI Technologist.
Sign on bonus of $10,000 for qualifying candidates.
The MRI Technologist performs specialized research-based MRIs in accordance with research protocols and established safety standards. They will serve as a liaison between research participants, faculty conducting research, and other members of the research study teams. They will also collaborate with cross-institutional and multi-center scientific researchers on design and verification of new research MRI protocols.

Day-to-day work
●Analyzing research participant histories and completing MRI Safety Screenings for contraindicated devices and injuries where metal objects were involved.
●Preparing and administering contrast dyes.
●Addressing research participant's concerns and ensuring that they are comfortable and calm during scans.
●Performing regular inspections of the MRI equipment and machines.
●Positioning the patients and completing MRI scans according to the research study specifications.
●Ensuring that the MRI rooms are kept clean, tidy, and safe at all times.
●Providing support to ancillary staff.
●Exporting and backing up of imaging data.
●Carrying out quality assurance procedures and implementing improvements as required
Work schedule is: 40 hours per week, typically on weekdays with some and early evening hours to meeting scanning facility demands
Our facility is a research dedicated MRI. We do not perform clinical or diagnostic MRIs as we are not affiliated with the Health System.
Minimum Requirements:
●Associates Degree in Radiologic Technology or related field from an accredited program recognized by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) or Joint Review Committee on Educational Program in Nuclear Medicine (JRCNMT)
●Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB)
●Must be physically able to work around an MRI
●Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or the commitment to do so at VCU
Preferred Requirements:
●Previous MRI work experience
●Previous work experience in an academic medical center environment
