WSU is seeking a full-time Assistant Lab Animal Technician to maintain biosecurity of facility according to standard operation procedures, including operation of sanitization equipment; under immediate supervision provide care for laboratory animals, perform general health evaluations of research animals, and maintain records.
Required:
- High school diploma or GEDand 1 year (FT) basic animal related work experience, working in an animal or a research setting.
- Must be able to review, comprehend, and comply with standard operating procedures.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and move heavy equipment.
- Must be able to stand, kneel, bend, reach, or crouch while working. May be required to work on weekends and holidays.
- Pre-employment physical exam is required.
- Obtaining an Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician certification from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (aalas.org)) within eighteen (18) months of employment is a requirement for continuing employment.
